The Chatuchak Market, in Bangkok,  has more than 8,000 sales stalls. At a weekend it usually has more than 100,000 visitors. In this market there is everything for sale, although not always at the best prices, yet it is well worth visiting.

This market is a world in which you will only make good deals if you are well prepared to bargain over prices. This is because, having become a tourist attraction, it has seen its average prices inflated, comparing with prices of the same products in other places, not so popular.

If you are planning to pass by through Chiang Mai, you should save a good part of the budget for gifts and souvenirs, because in the capital of Northern Thailand you will find much better deals.

How to get there to Chatuchak Market?

– Take the Skytrain to Mo Chit Staition, exit at Exit nr.º 1 and follow the crowd until you find the first stalls. After that you have to turn right.  Then   you will see the entrance that leads to the market.
– You can also go by underground train. Take it to Chatuchak Park metro station,  get off at exit nr.1. Once again, follow the crowd until you see the entrance to the market.

The history of the Chao Phraya River and the city of Bangkok are deeply connected.

The city was founded precisely because of the conditions that this river provided to the founding inhabitants of the city. After the fall of the old capital, Ayutthaya, the king decided to found, where Bangkok stands today, the new capital of Thailand.

For a boat tour or to cross the river you can catch a boat from the Chao Phraya boat company, which operates daily between 6am and 7.30pm.

You can also opt for tourist offers, with tours starting from 9 ports, for 150 bath, between 9.30 and 15h. It is a good option if you want more comfort and accompany the views with a Chang beer. These boats depart every 30 minutes, unlike the previous ones departing every quarter hour.

Finally, if you are looking for something more personalized, hire a long tail boat for a river cruise with the possibility of including a meal.

Either way do not forget to take a boat trip, which will give you a unique perspective of the city.

Wat Pho (the temple of the lying Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, stands near the temple of the Emerald Buddha and is a mandatory crossing point in Bangkok.

This temple is one of the most visited in the city and is known for its 46 meter statue, of a lying Buddha, covered in gold leaves.
On foot it is 10 minutes from the Grand Palace and can be seen on the same day.

The food paradise in Bangkok, China Town is one of the great attractions of the city. Vibrant by day and night, it is invaded by those seeking shopping, food or visiting Chinese temples. For sure, if you go, you’ll want to come back.

The best day of the year to visit it is, of course, Chinese New Year’s Day. Even so, at any time, you will find many points of interest, such as:

– Wat Traimit is a Buddhist temple with the biggest gold Buddha of the World, on Traimir Road. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance is free;

– Sampeng Lane, a long narrow street of shops to buy whatever you want. You can find this chaotic street south of the parallel Yaowarat Road;

– Yaowarat at night, a world of food. When night falls this street becomes one of the biggest street food spots in the world;

– Located in the center, Wat Mangkol Kamalawat, is the largest and most important Chinese Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Open from 9am to 5pm and is on Chaorenkrung Road.

Apart from all this there is a world of things to discover in China Town. Do not let it pass.

Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is one of those places you can not miss on your visit to Bangkok.

In the same complex is inserted the former residence of the king of Thailand, the Grand Palace.

It is a dream place and is one of the most visited places in the city and an important pilgrimage point.

Bangkok has some floating markets that you can visit on your trip.

The best known is Damnoen Saduak, a place full of life and color, where you can find hundreds of boats selling food and fruit. However, today, it is above all a tourist attraction having lost some of its more genuine side.

If you are looking for an experience that comes closer to true Thailand, you should visit the Talin Chan, less touristy yet, still having a bit of everything.

Located 12km from downtown Bangkok, it is open all day and has a large local market nearby. There, you can take a long tail boat ride and get to know what is around. You will find a world of old wooden houses.
